My Amazing Weekend Trip
Hey everyone! Just got back from the most AMAZING weekend trip to the mountains! I never thought I would enjoy hiking so much, but wow, the views were totally worth it!
We left early Saturday morning - like, WAY too early if you ask me (who gets up at 5 AM on a weekend??). But my buddy Rick insisted we needed to "beat the crowds" or whatever. Turns out he was right (don't tell him I said that though lol).
The trail was pretty tough in some spots. I thought I was in decent shape, but those inclines had me GASPING for air! Note to self: maybe less time playing StarCraft and more time at the gym? Nah, who am I kidding... ;-)
But seriously, when we reached the summit, it was like something out of a movie. The view stretched for miles, and you could see three different lakes from up there. I tried to take some photos, but my digital camera battery died (typical!!!). I'll try to scan some of the disposable camera pics when I get them developed next week.
The best part was camping under the stars. No city lights, no noise, just the sound of nature and a million stars overhead. It really makes you think about how small we are in the universe, you know?
UPDATE: Just found out our group photo made it into the local paper! Fame at last, haha! I'll see if I can get a copy to scan.

Got a New Job!
Guess what?? I finally got that web design job I've been hoping for! After three interviews and a design test (which was super stressful, btw), they called this morning to offer me the position!
It's with a small local company that does websites for businesses around town. The pay isn't amazing, but it's a foot in the door, and I'll be doing what I love. Plus, I get to wear jeans to work - no more dress shirts and ties for this guy!
My mom is kind of confused about what I'll actually be doing ("So you... make the internet?"), but she's happy for me anyway. Dad thinks I should have gone into accounting like him, but he'll come around eventually.
I start next Monday, so I'm spending this week brushing up on my HTML skills and learning more about this new CSS thing everyone's talking about. It seems pretty cool - you can style things without a million font tags!
Wish me luck! I'm nervous but super excited!

My Thoughts on The Matrix
OMG, I finally saw The Matrix last weekend (I know, I'm late to the party), and my mind is completely BLOWN! If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for?? It's literally the coolest movie ever made!
The special effects are insane - that bullet-time sequence? How did they even do that?? And the whole concept is just so deep and philosophical. Like, what if we ARE living in a computer simulation? How would we even know?
I've been thinking about it non-stop since watching it. I even had a dream last night where I could do kung fu and dodge bullets, haha! My roommate is so annoyed because I keep saying "There is no spoon" randomly around the apartment.
I'm definitely going to watch it again this weekend. Maybe I'll catch some details I missed the first time. Has anyone else seen it? Let me know what you thought in the comments!
